ROSFest - What the people said...

We've collected a few comments from forums and other websites here... Many thanks to everyone who came along. (Please note that these are not Credo's comments...)

Credo - kicked off Sunday morning in a neat way. Vocals a bit poor in the mix while playing, but the music, the lyrics and the vocalists talking inbetween tunes all were stellar, the band got crowd ovations and everyone I talked too thought it was an amazing show. Second best concert of this weekend for me. And this band won themselves new fans by the bucketful this morning, the band are probably busy counting money from CD-sales still ;-)

 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Credo was also a treat - enthusiastic, personable (a pleasure to converse briefly with Credo Man after sth show) and really tastful guitar work - exceeding expectations.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Credo -- Sunday morning is a tough slot for obvious reasons (those damn moomin again). Credo did exactly what is necessary to win the crowd over. They played a high energy set with passion and humor. Although one can complain (as prog fans often do) they sound a lot like Mariliion, etc., and there is some similarity, that had no impact on the most important question: Did I enjoy the show? Absolutely.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unfortunately, Tess and I missed Credo on Sunday morning, as we were both "toast" from the night before; I'm kicking myself that we did, because I heard they were amazing.

So, who do you think we strike up a conversation with as we checked out of the hotel today? The drummer for Credo, LOL! Really nice dude, we even apologized for missing their set and told him everyone was extremely impressed with their gig.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

absolutely a great set! I wasn't familiar with anything from them except one tune. Maybe it was a sample.
BUT, the one that moved me was The Letter by Credo. It was like a chill and the hair on my arms stood on end
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Credo was awesome Sunday morning. They put on a very good performance and really got the sleepy 11AM crowd into it with some humor.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other highlights where the friendly and amusing Credo putting on a great performance in the slot that demands a high standard, my wife's favorite band of the weekend with the her "sounds like Marillion" comment, to me I can see the similarities but was amply unique enough for me to make it not a turn off.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Credo were simply impeccable. Crunchy prog, an awesome singer with much passion and a fabulous sense of humour. Great harmonies, a very tight band. Sensational band! Credo Man, you rock!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been a Credo fan for a while and have developed an online friendship with Credo Man (Mark their singer). Having never played a gig in the US before, the band was a bit nervous about how they would be received.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They simple blew everyone's socks off yesterday morning, and for the first time I can remember, I was so happy for
a band that tears welled up when I saw their amazed and elated reaction to the crowd.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My vote for the single most riveting performer: Patrik Lundstrom of Ritual followed by Mark Colton of Credo.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall probably the best Rosfest so far. The way I see it is Wishbone Ash and RPWL were the best acts. Right behind them were Credo, Blind Ego, GPS, Crack The Sky and Black Bonzo. All 7 of these acts were really very good with Credo's fontman Mark being the best talking to the audience guy.

Great bunch of lads, too.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm tickled pink that Credo got a great reception especially as I know Mark was nervous as hell for two days!

So thanks everyone!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My friend was watching the sound guy during this performance. The sound guy was doing every thing he could to keep the fucking loud guitar amps from saturating the PA amp system, by adjusting the compression. Clipping was clearly obvious at times. They need to take a hint from the guitar player from Credo who played thru a little amplifier (Mesa Boogie) and all of the sound of that excellent PRS guitar came and was managed by the PA. The irony of the statement above is that the only heavy metal show I've been too recently was amplified distortion at levels which my ER-20 ear plugs didn't help. However, ER-20s worked great for Circa.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Highlights for me were Ritual (literally made this old fart cry) and Credo. Those guys have been treading the boards for ages and to see them get a reception like they did was really terrific.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Credo - Another fabulous wake up set! Credo Man, Mark was a riot on stage and totally won the crowd over with his stories before we even had the chance to enjoy the Rhetoric tracks. Loved the story about his son asking why a fan shot John Lennon and Mark explained that the fan shot John because he liked his music and Mark's son replied,"Daddy, I hope they don't like you in America." Kudos to Credo. Hope to see you back in the States soon.

GREAT, GREAT, GREAT TIME!!!

Although I enjoyed almost all the bands Ritual and Black Bonzo blew me away. Credo and Blind Ego also had me smiling. Always good to see Ambrosia, RPWL and Wishbone Ash.

1) Not a band.. but all the great Rosfesters I met for the first time or reconnected with!! You folks are great!!
2) RPWL - was looking forward to this band as much as CIRCA: and they delivered!!!!
3) Ambrosia and Wishbone Ash - neither of these bands I was really familiar with going in although I remembered the

4) Credo What a nice suprise!!! These guys are awesome, as well as humorous!!
5) Blind Ego and GPS - quuite different bands but both put on quality sets.
6) CIRCA: see above.. nuff said

In addition to the Mesa/Boogie amp and the PRS guitar, Tim from Credo was using a Boss GT-8 effects system via the effects loop of the amp. I just bought a GT-8 a couple of weeks ago and am still figuring out how to use the damn thing! Hearing the incredible variety of sounds Tim was able to coax out of it gave me real motivation to soldier through the owners manual and figure out the "ins and outs" of the thing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CREDO -Their set itself was a decent performance of their decidedly Marillion inspired material, but Credo had such a likable attitude that they got they crowd on their side from the beginning. The singer was hilarious and they seemed beyond excited to be there. Reminds you that in such a small world as prog is, the artists really are appreciative of the support they get.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wasn't there on Friday or Saturday (CIRCA was the first band I saw) and other than CTS, Credo was by far my pick for best band of RF. What a great set. Black Bonzo was also excellent.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, Sunday dawned twice - once while still in Norm & Magog's room, and again about three hours later when I left for the Keswick - this time following the officially-sanctioned route and arrived without incident. Credo had just started when I arrived. They were pretty good - very Fish-like vocals and a sort of slightly more aggressive Fish-era Marillion sound, to my ears.

Day 3:

Credo:
Given the ROSfest tradition of having an energetic band open the day on Sunday, I was not surprised that Credo
put on such a great show. Their front man was funny and engaging and the music was played with enthusiasm and great chops. I had already bought their album based on the strength of the one song I'd heard from them, and I'm glad I didn't have to stand in their huge merch line after the show. My second favorite act of the weekend, behind Ritual. They played all of the Rhetoric album and announced that it was the last time they'd be doing that, so we were a part of history, of sorts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wow, it sounds like I missed a great festival! OK, I get it, Circa was TOO LOUD! It sounds like I would have loved both Ritual and Credo, I really need to check those bands out. A turnout of 750-775? That is a new Rosfest record, and by a wide margin, the organizers should be thrilled. It seems this fest has a very bright future.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think most will agree that Ritual and Credo stood out while Circa: had problems with their mix/volume.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The musicians I did meet (Yogi Lang, Erik Norlander, Guthrie Govan, and Martin Meads) were extremely nice and down to earth. My wife and I had a lengthy conversation with Martin just before we left the hotel and I had some time to converse with Erik on Friday Night.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Credo, Black Bonzo & Ritual alone would have made this fest worth it, and every other band also pleased me greatly.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You know, this was my first time at a "Prog" festival.I have seen progressive rock bands, but not in this type of setting. Rush,Dream Theater,Yes,ELP,Asia,Wishbone Ash, and of course, Crack The Sky.I too, was pleasantly surprised by Credo.Great bunch of guys, and their set was very good.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Andy, Guthrie Govan of GPS, and Tim Birrell of Credo probably had the best sound of all the guitarists at ROSFest.
Tim played a Paul Reed Smith guitar through a small Mesa/Boogie amp.

Well, we had a damn blast !!!

I had one too! Credo was GREAT!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for an incredible set Sunday morning. Absolutely great way to start the day.
Although, we never did have that beer together. Everytime I turned to get you, you had disappeared.

Quite the social butterfly. Sokay, I shared a pint and chatted a bit with Mr. P., you know, your stunt double....LOL.

Great guy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Excellent, excellent set!! It was also great hanging with some of you on Sat nite outside the Keswick as you were reacting to the list of upcoming bands

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey Credo Man - see my PM. When we get the photos I'll get your addy & send you one of the tongue-wagging!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boy George? Englebert Humperdink? CREDO!!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We had a blast in spite of both being under the weather. Greg's ears are plugged up, and I have laryngitis ... who says God doesn't have a sense of humor???
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Loved Credo and Circa the most, and Blind Ego as well. I just didn't 'get' Black Bonzo ... too much Deep Heep for me.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Credo was tremendous and the CD I bought there is just as good if not better because the production is awesome. The vocals are clearer on the CD.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For me it was:

1. Crack the Sky

2. RPWL

3. Ritual

4. Credo

5. Wishbone Ash

6. Black Bonzo

7. Blind Ego

8.Ambrosia

9. GPS

10. Circa. And another number one to reunions with new friends that are part of this group!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For me it was:

1.) Ritual
2.) Black Bonzo
3.) RPWL
4.) Credo
5.) Circa
6.) Blind Ego

Those are the only bands I saw.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My rankings would be:

1. Wishbone Ash - For four guys that were in Europe for 20 dates? and just flew in that afternoon, they put
on a great show.

2. Credo - I had their cd for a while now and I play it regularly. I loved that they played the entire cd. And
that "little rocking troll" (Mark's words) was their secret weapon. They had the best song of the weekend: "The Letter"

3. RPWL - I was pleasanty surprised by this band. Thought that they did a great job. "Roses" was a very
emotional song.

4. Black Bonzo - For a band to have some of their equipment stolen, they put on a fantastic show.

5. Ritual - A young ted nugent with the voice of Freddie Mercury. Fantastic arrangements, and a great acoustic set.

At this point the order of the above five bands could be shuffled and I wouldn't argue. Each had something
unique that I loved.

6. GPS - Great way to start the weekend. They did a very good set.

7. Crack the Sky - Their first 45min were fantastic and probably would have been in the top five, but then they
had kind of a lull in their performance, only to finish strong.

RoSFEST – The CREDO boys came, played and conquered...
